One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is …

It can be anything – no act is too small! Remember, we can learn a lot from each other, so please leave that comment, and I hope that I’ll soon be sending you a delicious prize! Good Luck!

I’ll start – One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is… I pack my daughters “no waste” snacks for when we’re out. Which means that I end up with a purse full of containers full of crumbs… but that’s ok, I’m always covered in crumbs anyway!

  1. One change I’ve made towards living a greener life is leaving earlier to walk to places instead of taking trains or buses or taxis. And using windows & fans instead of aircon.

  2. one change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is give my loves one organic food. I start growing my herb plants, made my own organic bread, cake and noodle, bring my own recycle bag, use solar light at night…….

  3. One change I’ve made towards living a greener life is to carry reusable bags with me in my hand bag. They are handy and definitely help reduce my carbon footprint.

  4. One change I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is… refusing plastic bags! I either stuff the goods into my handbag/recyclable bag, or hold them in my hands if they are small enough.

  5. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is bringing my own lunch to work. The first thing to do when I wake up in the morning is to steam presoaked multi-grain rice in a glass lunch box, which would go into a handsewn cotton bag designed for such purposes. Also, to avoid using disposable cutlery, I always carry a pair of MUJI chopsticks with me. Green living with style 😉

  6. I have switched to buying concentrate forms of dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent that have plant-based, biodegradable ingredients. This uses less energy in transportation and is also non-toxic when the water re-enters the environment! : ) [thank you for running this contest and getting us to think more about what we could do to be Green..]

    • One change is to make my own bread and cakes. i use only homemade food colorings. elimate the use of styloform boxes by dining in instead of take away.

  7. I encourage reusing and recycling at home. My children place recyclables in a designated basket in our kitchen and I send them to a nearby collection centre every week.

  8. One change I’ve made towards a greener lifestyle is making my own cleaning products – thanks for teaching me how simple it is at the Green Living workshop… 🙂

  9. One change I’ve made towards a greener lifestyle is to consolidate all the plastic/glass containers & bottles from our detergents, condiments and other household products; then drop them off at the neighbourhood recycling bin once a fortnight! 😀

  10. One change I’ve made towards a greener lifestyle is to recycle all green parts which are perceived as waste, such as vegetable parts which aren’t eaten, and fruit peels. I use them to make garbage enzyme to use in place of detergents and cleaning liquids, and feed the leftovers to my vermicomposting worms to convert to fertilizers for my plants. A great way to have a total recyclable ecosystem!

  11. Once more, with passion! I re-wear my work attire before they go into the laundry bin. (But I’ll change the blouses-pants-skirt combination so they don’t look like the same outfit the next time I put them on heehee)

Now my mom and sister do the same too. This greatly reduces the number of wash cycles in our household 😀

  12. I’ve made a few small changes to live a greener life – making my own cleaning solutions and switching to baking soda rather than using fabric softener (thanks to Green Living workshops), take along re-usable shopping bags for groceries, and using re-usable snack bags for kids’ snacks on outings.

  13. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is walking to the nearby mall that is 1.5km away to run my errands – this is on top of babywearing my 1 year old and to opt for no plastic bags when I purchase groceries (by bringing my own reusable bag!).

  14. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is a switch from using tissues and serviettes to a gentleman’s handkerchief (okay it belonged to my father). I use it to wipe off sweat, nose goo, etc. Whenever my girlfriend runs out of her own tissue, she would use it to wipe her mouth after meals.

I will feel out of sorts if I forget to bring my handkerchief out these days.

  15. How I live a green lifestyle: being a vegan, eating local whenever possible (local fruits and veggies especially instead of air-flown food with high embedded carbon and water), using natural products, using second hand stuff instead of buying new ones, riding my bicycle whenever possible instead of taking public transport, and encouraging family and friends to live lightly on this planet too!

  16. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is reusing old clothes as rags, using rainwater to wash the car porch.

  17. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is becoming a vegan! (seems like my earlier comment disappeared, so am posting an abridged version now 🙂

  18. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is using soap nuts as detergent, using laundry rinse water to flush the toilet.

  19. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is changing my lights to LEDs and sending my car for a carbon cleansing.

  20. One change I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is…to recycle bath water. I use this to wash toilet floors and to water my plants 🙂

  21. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is to bring along a foldable “environmental bag” with me everywhere I go. I can reduce the use of plastic bag in this way!

  22. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is to never use any plastic bags! I now use only recycled or paper bags:)

  23. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is to recycle the beautiful glass bottles from juice, condiments and so many things for my homemade fruit enzyme, palm sugar date jam, pickled cucumbers and carrots, sprouting, nuts, “homes” for cacti, …

  24. My next family car will be a hybrid one; in the meantime one change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is to drive as efficiently as possible. I hardly use the AC, minimize rapid acceleration and harsh braking, and most importantly, I don’t let the engine idle!

  25. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is to bring my own lunch boxes/containers instead of using styrofoam or disposable containers when buying food from stall vendors.

  26. …Is simply not receiving products offered to me as gifts or freebies when I know I don’t need them. Although some might think of receiving free products as one of the perks of blogging (and in some ways, it is), to me it’s becoming such a chore finding where to store all the boxes, bottles and jars at home. And it’s depressing to discover all of them barely touched yet already expired after a couple of months.

  27. I haven’t used air conditioning for about two years now.
I’m working on an app to help buildings reduce the amount of air con they use to make the buildings we work, shop, and play in more comfortable, cost efficient, and eco-friendly places.
I walk often, and stick to public transportation rather than taxis or cars as much as possible.
    I’ve stopped watching TV too.
I discourage the stores I visit from giving me unnecessary bags and packets of sauces that I don’t need.
I only wish my neighbourhood was more recycling friendly. And I need to find somewhere local that will recycle my old electronics (the stack is getting bigger).

  28. I use Dr Bronner’s Castille Soap around the house and on the kids! Also just bought these 2 neat sandwich tupperwares that fit sandwiches PERFECTLY! So no more need for nasty plastic cling wrap that ends up in rivers and oceans. 🙂

  29. I walk as much as I can. I don’t own — or wish to own — a car, especially in Singapore where the public transport network is awesome (or almost awesome)! I switch off the lights if I am not going to be in the room. Next steps: Planning to use my own thermos flask when I purchase/get my regular latte in the morning; researching to find out whether LED lights will really be more eco-friendly and use them if they are! (I Love LED); and remembering to bring my shopping bags always (not easy as age catches up and memory slips).
All the best, Little Green Dot

  30. One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is that I try to use public transport as much as possible to reduce my carbon footprint on a daily basis. Every little bit counts.

  31. One change I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is I will bring my own recycle bag when I’m doing groceries shopping.

  32. Yay, finally a giveway i can take part in.

One change that I’ve made towards living a greener lifestyle is by recycling old milk cartons, and plastic bottles, taking the MRT and buses instead of driving, or, using my handy bicycle!! 🙂
